ECG Interpretation Skill Levels
As mentioned on the The Scoring Algorithm page, The ECG Quiz uses three ECG interpretation skill levels to grade ECG interpretations: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Registered Users, Subscribers, and Organization Members can select the skill level that best represents their proficiency in interpreting ECGs.
The Skill Levels used by The ECG Quiz are:
- Beginning Learner
- You have a basic understanding of ECG interpretation and can identify normal rhythms and some simple abnormalities.
- You are familiar with foundational concepts such as tachycardia, bradycardia, and pauses.
- This level is suited for those with limited experience who are building confidence in rhythm recognition.
- Intermediate Learner
- You have a solid grasp of basic ECG interpretation and are comfortable identifying more complex arrhythmias and conditions.
- You can recognize patterns such as atrial fibrillation, heart blocks, ischemia, and ventricular fibrillation.
- This level reflects a growing ability to integrate clinical context and interpret subtle ECG changes.
- Advanced Learner
- You have advanced expertise in ECG interpretation and can confidently analyze complex and high-stakes cases.
- You are proficient in diagnosing fast and slow rhythms, acute myocardial infarction, ischemia, and device malfunctions.
- This level demonstrates a mastery of ECG interpretation and strong clinical decision-making skills.
The ECG Quiz provides two methods to change your Skill Level:
The ECG Quiz → Manage Preferences located in the upper left of each page.
My Account → The ECG Quiz Preferences located in the upper right corner of each page.
You should archive your current results when you change your Skill Level. The system will prompt you to archive your current results when you change your Skill Level.
